5 things that Adobe can do instead of whining
April 15, 2010They really need to stop whining. It’s getting pathetic. Adobe is a multi-billion dollar business with loads of cash. Start spending on R&D. Some suggestions on what they can do to get back in the game instead of whining like a teenager who got dumped for the first time:
1. Build your own damn tablet, optimized for Flash. Two kids in India built their own – how hard can it friggin be? Go buy them if you don’t want to build it yourself, for goddsakes.
2. Start an intermediary transcode service for Flash. Don’t want to build one? Buy RipCode.
3. Fix Flash for OS X, and resolve CPU hogging issues for iPhone, iPad. Give us a reason to care. Or if its too difficult, open source Flash’ Let someone fix it for you.
4. Decide on a corporate strategy and execute, dammit. No company – Apple, Microsoft, Sun – can serve all customer segments, target every market. What’s Adobe want to be?
5. If you can’t decide, sell yourself to Google.
Anything but the whining. Please.
Wow, thank you for suggesting Notion Ink’s the sleek pc tablet “The Adam!” It truly is Evolution2Revolution. I love how it has the nVidia Tegra 2 chip and the 1080p video playback! And the best part of all, it has an e-paper mode which is actually safe for the eyes. Thank you for recommending such an incredible device, something that actually knocked the ipad right out of the innovation thrown.

Agreed. I couldn’t have said it better myself! Adobe needs to shut the hell up & do one of the above. To be honest, I’d rather they get bought by Google or something & never be heard of again. Their attitude towards the evolution of the web & technology in general has never impressed me. They took a promising company like Macromedia, (who had a rationale similar to Apple’s) & flushed all that promise down the toilet when they bought them out in ’05.
I miss the good ol’ days when Macromedia was the shit. These guys pioneered the first phase of “Multimedia” applications which lead to the development of the highly integrated, intuitive creative suites we see today. Sure, Adobe has some great ideas, but their lack of vision is disturbing, & pales in comparison to what Macromedia’s was. I wish things had gone differently – this company would have improved people’s lives much more than Adobe ever will, trust me! …oh well, the past is the past :/
