Steve Ballmer is Young Frankenstein

June 18, 2009

Even though he looks like The Monster, Ballmer is the sparing no money to chase the dream and ignoring all warning just to get the company back to its former glory. Right now there are some blindmen checking out his latest creation (Bing!) and he thinks he’s created the perfect beast. To see the analogy through, the beast will retreat and make some switch (or even scream like Elizabeth), but soon enough the good Doctor will settle have to retreat to his own comfort zone and do another monkey dance.

Bump a guy’s search engine market share a few points and he goes nuts!

Microsoft’s (MSFT) operating income in 2008 was $22 billion, so a very rough estimate of Steve’s commitment would be somewhere between $5.5 billion and $11 billion.

Why is Ballmer Young Frankensetin still CEO?

Anonymous Iran is a collaboration between The Pirate Bay — operators of the world’s largest torrent site, convicted in April of copyright infringement — and Anonymous, the prankster collective dedicated to exposing “Scientology’s crimes.”

Yay, Pirate Bay.

Weak copyright laws benefits society

June 18, 2009

Since when are corporations and the government concerned about societal benefits?

The Harvard Business School working paper finds that given the increase in artistic production along with the greater public access conclude that “weaker copyright protection, it seems, has benefited society.” The authors’ point out that file sharing may not result in reduced incentives to create if the willingness to pay for “complements” such as concerts or author speaking tours increases.”
