Apple rejects Microsoft Office 2008 for Mac
September 24, 2008It’s under NDA but evidently Apple rejected Microsoft Office for the Mac because it competes with Apple’s iWork. Also, Firefox was rejected because it could confuse users about which to browser to use.
Other candidates on the reject list include NetNewsWire, RealPlayer, and Lightroom.
Also, Apple is evidently considering banning blogs that that refer to “morons” because it may lead to confusion between actual morons and the iPhone app rejection team.

MS Office for Mac should be rejected. It is very buggy even with the service pack updates.

The difficulty for some, no matter how buggy Office might be, nor desirable for Apple to “reject” MSO is that in working environments such as I work in there is a continual flow between Mac and Windows users regarding .doc’s. Doc’s that can’t have styling and alignment, charting problems etc.
Personally I like Melle word processor. A very slick and powerful package, however, I must comply with my window’s using colleagues, department, research unit etc.
So as much as I would love to “stuff” office I end up having to employ it. From that view Apple’s stance (unless it is joke ) really makes no sense. They must know many people who use Macs rely on word to “survive”.

Laughing out loud @ Alan. I also thought this article was literal. I’m glad they junked MSO, Bill Gates is too rich, and forget about RealPlayer. There are many better programs out there. Firefox is the only program Apple should have accepted, although, I don’t know much about the remaining programs listed. I’m fairly new to wordpress. Excellent. I hear that Apple is also considering using its own form of electricity (called iJuice) since the standard brand, manufactured by the universe and the laws of physics, just isn’t cool enough.
