Paging Rob Enderle

April 6, 2007

Via Glass House:

Given some of the drama from the Wired story last week, and the cries for more transparency all around, I found this Michael Gartenberg post to be more than just a bit ironic. Here it is:

Had another funny call with a media outlet this morning. When I called them back on the Apple/EMI news, first question was. “Do you think this is a bad thing for Apple and EMI.” When I said “no, it’s a good thing”, they said “thanks for calling but we only want to talk to someone who thinks this is a bad thing.”

This is typical MSM linkbait. Negative stories Apple drive traffic because Mac users feel the need to set the stories straight and Windows fanboys feel the urge to agree with obnoxious glee. Time to look closely for negative Apple-EMI stories to figure out who was fishing for this storyline. Also, keep an eye out for that quote whore, Rob Enderle, to make an appearance. How about this time folks ignore the stories and don’t link instead of getting outraged and giving them what they want: traffic?
